For the seventh year, the Jamie Stern team gathered to put on a favorite annual get together, our BDNY Showroom Event. There were some exciting new changes and updates this year including the location. Earlier this fall, we moved into our new showroom space, located at 231 W. 29th Street. This new spacious setting is still only a few blocks from the Jacob Javits Center and makes for an easy walk to and from the show.
As always, the event took place over both days of BDNY. Interior designers and architects from around the country were invited to join us for breakfast and/or lunch on both Sunday, November 10th and Monday the 11th. A traditional New York-style breakfast was served featuring bagels & lox, fresh fruit, croissants, pastries, hot coffee and of course, several delectable brunch cocktails. Lunch saw a variety of wraps, sandwiches, salads and pastas replacing the breakfast fare. Aperol Spritzes were also added to the drink menu to keep the party going.
Design firms from as far as northern California and Seattle were in attendance as were designers whose offices were mere blocks away in midtown Manhattan. Some of the various firms that showed up during the event included BKV Group, Champalimaud Design, Rockwell Group, DAS Architects, Stantec, TPG Architecture, Judd Brown Design, Ewing Cole, RD Jones, Corgan, HOK, Vocon, Bolt Design and many more. This year’s event drew a record number of attendees for us so we do apologize if we left your firm off this list!
The new showroom space featured a great deal of our classic elements. The ever-present leather and fabric walls displayed a freshly updated array of beautiful boutique and budget-friendly upholstery options alike. A newly installed wall boasted a wide range of samples showcasing hand-tufted, hand-knotted and hand-loomed rugs. Every one of these was produced with all-natural fibers including New Zealand wool, hemp, silk, linen, cotton and nettle.
Long-standing favorites like our Lake Street Banquette upholstered in our in-stock Quicksilver leather, a variety of FLOAT Barstools and Tim deFiebre’s Peek and Trilogy Stools could also be found throughout the new digs. Complementing these pieces were some exciting recent introductions. Multiple pieces from the Infinity Collection, designed by Montclair, New Jersey’s RHG Architecture + Design, took center stage with their prominent placement. Each of these units was upholstered in our gorgeous Junichi Mohair.
Our timeless Grayson Wingback Chair and Cairo Lounge Chair were also present and looking spiffy. Both pieces were upholstered in fabrics from our all-new Material Matters by Jeannene Doub for Jamie Stern. This new collection of contemporary boucles, refreshed plaids and bespoke textures are all made of natural, sustainable, luxurious fibers sourced from the finest European mills and executed in palettes of soft, muted tones.
Additionally, all in attendance were given a sneak peek at some upcoming furniture, fabric and rug collections that the Jamie Stern team is excited to formally introduce in early 2025. Without giving too much away, all of these new items will further emphasize our love of natural fibers, sustainable design initiatives and tight partnerships with artisan producers, both in the United States and abroad.
Lastly, we would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to everyone who came out to the 7th iteration of our BDNY Showroom Event. We had an absolutely amazing time, and we genuinely hope you did as well! We have some fun events in the works for the near future, so if you were unable to attend this showroom event, there will definitely be more opportunities for you to join us in the near future. We can’t wait and we will see you then!
